ATLANTA NAGENDRA
Story/Screenplay/Dialogues/Director
Nagendra is an Indian engineer turned filmmaker who loves calling Atlanta his home. Besides an engineering degree in Computer Science, he has completed various full‐length courses on filmmaking in the US as well. In particular, he has focused on screenwriting, editing and directing.
His previous work includes “Joke Falls”, a full‐length Kannada feature film starring popular South Indian star Ramesh Aravind. In Joke Falls, Nagendra was the co‐writer and producer. It was released commercially in theaters in 2004 by one of the premier production/distribution houses in India – Rajshri Films. Joke Falls went on to celebrate 25 weeks Silver Jubilee in Bangalore. Such was the popularity of Joke Falls that the press gave him the moniker ‐ “Atlanta” Nagendra. The name has stuck ever since.
Mumbhai Connection marks Nagendra’s debut into the Hindi movie arena.
Director’s Statement
I am very excited to bring Mumbhai Connection to audiences around the globe. A few thoughts….
Mumbhai Connection is unique. We explore the absurd (or maybe not!) situation of juxtaposing the world of IT with the Mumbai underworld. As one of the characters in our movie says about the mafia ‐ “They too are running a business. Why won’t they need IT support?” We believe this is something viewers have not seen before. Maybe a brave entrepreneur will actually try to pursue this in real life
Mumbhai Connection is very personal. It addresses issues that have affected me directly – the US ecession, unemployment, visa issues, IT…the one thing that I don’t have a personal experience with is the Mafia! Mumbhai Connection is not a culture‐clash story about Indians in the US. Those have been done to death.
Additionally, we hope to showcase the beautiful city of Atlanta, its cosmopolitanism and diversity, and its depth of film‐related talent. And to show that, yes, you can even have an item number in Atlanta! I hope you enjoy watching Mumbhai Connection as much as we enjoyed making it. And remember – Don’t sell IT to the mafia!
